The Journal of World Investment & Trade (formerly The Journal of World Investment) is the recognized forum where the most current issues concerning foreign direct investment are debated: arbitration in investment disputes, bilateral and multilateral investment treaties, compensation in case of expropriation, analysis of investment flows and their effect, as well as the Wto trade issues which affect investment. Particular attention is paid to the
conclusion of scores of investment treaties meant to regulate investment flows, both
multilateral and bilateral— there are, at present, an estimated 1,800 bilateral
investment treaties—and the many questions which the proliferation of these treaties
provoke, such as their efficiency at increasing investment flows, their compatibility with
State sovereignty, the working of their arbitral dispute settlement systems, the awards
rendered by arbitral tribunals, and the like. It also covers the political aspects of
these investment treaties within the wider context of inter-State relationships. |
